The Gift of a 5-Star Angling Experience
We know gifting may not be on your mind but trust us it’s always on your wife’s mind! Make sure you express to her about how much you would just love a trip to Casa Vieja Lodge. Perhaps you have a birthday coming up, anniversary, big occasion, drop a subtle hint and we’ll seal the deal once we speak with her!
Remember, if you are giving the gift of the 5-Star Angling Experience during the holiday season, the chances of your fisherman being able to use his gift thereafter for January- April months are extremely slim as those months are already heavily booked. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it the same if you give it ahead of time, so he can plan out his trip of a lifetime!
Speaking of gifts, have you entered into the Harbor Trucks Giveaway to win a trip to Casa Vieja Lodge along with Florida Insider Fishing Report hosts, Capt. Rick Murphy and Brie Gabrielle? Visit http://floridainsiderfishingreport.com and sign up!
Captain Tred Barta
On August 12, 2019, the world lost a great outdoorsman in an automotive accident. The Casa Vieja Lodge Family was saddened to hear the news of Captain Tred Barta. He was a frequent angler at the Lodge and loved by all that he came across. The Lodge was his happy place. While there, he was simply a grown kid going fishing daily, and being waited on hand and foot. Believe it or not, he always managed to put a smile on the faces of our staff and was one hell of an angler.
In 2015, he featured Casa Vieja Lodge in Barta’s Biased as Hell Travel Log, and you can read the article here. For years, Casa Vieja Lodge was honored to sponsor the Barta’s Boys & Girls Club Fishing Tournament in Beaufort, NC. Although Barta was controversial at times, his love for the outdoors, and willingness to never give up always shined through.
The photo above was taken on November 28, 2014, Captain Tred Barta Released this Pacific Sailfish on 2lb test aboard the Finest Kind, and that was a first for him, and us! Tight lines Tred, and keep giving ‘um hell!
Casa Vieja Marine Services
While the crowds slow down, we’ve been hard at work at the Casa Vieja Boat Yard, the only one of its kind in the area, on the Finest Kind, and the Spindrift. Once again, Capt. David Salazar chose to repower the Finest Kind with brand new Cummins QSC 8.3 Engines.
“We switched from mechanical to electronic engines, and we simply don’t have any issues. They are more reliable, quieter, cleaner, and more efficient. These boats are made to run, and back down on each and every billfish without a day off.” said Capt. David.
The Spindrift is getting a complete overhaul. Her Cummins 6BTA 5.9 Engines have been rebuilt along with new wiring throughout entire boat, SIMRAD Electronics, generator, deck, paint, AC Cabin, along with all the upgrades you would desire on your own private charter boat.
Keeping Up with the Lodge
Fishing with Casa Vieja Lodge during the summer months is less crowded and allows you to have your own private resort with what feels like personal assistants too! Not to mention the blue marlin have been making a daily appearance as well as the deliciously, bright dorado, and yes the sails are still here! Don’t want to fight the crowds and want to make it a more personal experience, then join us next summer and you can do just that!
