| Our fourth annual Trophy Husbands Father’s Day Weekend Invitational was a smash hit!
It’s safe to say this year set a whole new bar for good times, epic fishing, and giving back. From the first line cast to the final fireworks show, the energy this weekend was unmatched. What an incredible 3 days off fishing, non-stop laughs, and top-tier camaraderie here at Casa Vieja Lodge. From fathers, and kids, to the wives who put up with them, everyone brought their A-game to the Pacific this year. The tournament kicked off strong on Day 1 with 102 sailfish raised, 91 bites, and 60 releases. The momentum carried right into Day 2, where teams saw another 92 sailfish raised, 83 bites and 49 releases added to the scoreboard. The action peaked on Day 3 with the highest numbers of the event, boasting an impressive 121 sailfish raised, 104 bites, and 58 releases. Overall we saw a grand total of 194 sailfish raised, 174 sailfish bites, and 109 sailfish releases! Beyond the trophies, the best part of this tournament is always the giving back. Thanks to 65 Sancochos plus 5 Zing Pows, we raised a grand total of $2,720 in donations for the daughters of two of our mates: Tony (La Chingona) and Selvin (Makaira)!!! Here is how the leaderboard shook out after an incredible 3 days of competition: RESULTS: ✿ Sancocho King—Blake T. (12 Sancochos!) An abundance of love and appreciation for our amazing Lodge Staff. If you caught the recent Kids Summer Takeover episode of the Florida Insider Fishing Report, you might have spotted some very familiar faces! Our amazing Jefa, Kristen Salazar, along with her four Mini Jefas joined Captain Rick Murphy in the studio to talk about family, fishing, and everything new going on at the lodge!
Kristen shared the exciting news that our massive renovations are officially complete! In total, we finished 32 new rooms (designed with adjoining spaces perfect for families), a giant 90,000-gallon pool—finally with a bridge connecting to our helicopter landing space—and our very popular swim-up bar. Whether you’re here to celebrate, fish, hang out with family or to celebrate and fish with your family, there’s now more room than ever for the kids to play & splash around while the adults unwind and relax.
Our Jefa also gives us a highlight on our favorite summer traditions: from tracking down schools of mahi during the high-energy Sugar Mamas Mother’s Day tournament—where the ladies absolutely crushed it—to hunting for big tuna for the Trophy Husbands Father’s Day showdown; summer at the lodge is all about making big memories with the next generation of little anglers.

Summer is officially in full swing, and the fish have definitely received the memo. Our fleet spent this June chasing some great bites, like 25 tuna in one day for The Hooker! And with our Trophy Husbands Invitational weekend, the fishing heat really ramped up. Overall this month we saw 1,102 sailfish raises, 978 sailfish bites, and 624 sailfish releases! PLUS 11 marlin raises, 3 marlin bites, and 2 marlin releases! If you’d like to see these incredible numbers for yourself, check out the seriously cool Fishing Counter on our homepage!
