Casa Vieja Lodge is officially back! And dare we say…Better than ever??
After a short break from July 5th until October 15th, Casa Vieja Lodge has officially reopened its doors—and the Pacific greeted us with open arms (and full fish boxes)! Within days of our return, our anglers were flying several marlin flags before lunch and reeling in plenty of sailfish. It’s safe to say, Guatemala’s legendary offshore bite hasn’t changed a bit since our hiatus.
Along with the fishing action, the entire CVL Crew is beyond thrilled to welcome guests back to our newly refreshed lodge! The pool area is now larger, more inviting, and can fit so many more people! Besides the massive space upgrade, we’ve surrounded the area with beautiful tropical landscaping that sets the perfect tone for unwinding after a big day offshore.
Already a huge guest favorite, our all new swim-up bar has seen plenty of action so far—because what’s better than a refreshing drink without even having to leave the water!?
While we did do a lot of work with our renovations to make your stay even more comfortable, we were adamant that it all be done without losing any of that classic Casa Vieja Lodge charm you know and love. So, while things might look a little different, we promise you, nothing about us has changed!
We’ll let some of the pictures below speak for themselves…
Do NOT miss your chance to get in on all the action here at Casa Vieja Lodge. The season is just heating up, and the fish are already proving why Guatemala remains The Billfish Capital of the World!
A More Than Warm Welcome Back! |

It didn’t take long AT ALL for the action to heat back up at Casa Vieja Lodge! Not even a full week since our grand reopening, and our beloved Guatemalan South Pacific is already showing up and showing OFF.
On just our third full fishing day, the team aboard Chilero returned to the docks flying not one, not two, but FOUR Blue Marlin flags—plus, the Rum Line team didn’t do so badly themselves, coming back in at the end of the day with another two Blue Marlin flags flying high!
Just a couple days later, our team aboard The Hooker showed back up to the dock with two MASSIVE tuna, both weighing over a hundred pounds—one at 120 lbs and the even bigger one at 175 lbs! Tuna Sashimi for dinner, anyone??
Then, on October 25th—not even two weeks after opening—we had one of our BEST marlin totals for a single day in Casa Vieja Lodge history! 34 blue marlin raises, 23 blue marlin bites and 15 blue marlin releases!!
The very next day on October 26th our team aboard the Poco Loco saw a good ole fashioned Grand Slam which consists of releasing a blue marlin, a striped marlin, and a sailfish!
Both the billfish and our anglers are fired up, and this season is shaping up to be one for the books. From insane Blue Marlin release numbers, to massive tuna hauls, the energy on and off the boats has been nothing short of electric. This incredible bite is clearly our beloved Pacific Ocean’s way of saying, “Welcome back!”
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to plan your trip to Casa Vieja Lodge…this is it. The bite is hot, the YETIs are keeping the beers cold, and the billfish are waiting.
