Striped Marlin Recaptured aboard the Rum Line!
On May 10th Captain Chris Sheeder and Angler Roman Faraldo, fishing aboard theRum Line, recaptured and re-tagged a striped marlin estimated at 200lb! The striped marlin was originally tagged in Guatemala by another TBF award winner. The re-tagging took place 32 days after its original tagging!
We are extremely honored to be a part of The Billfish Foundation tag and release program! This program is the largest private billfishing tagging database in the world and helps to promote conservation efforts. We are looking forward to seeing the incredible tagging numbers TBF will have this year, and to see all of our Captains and Mates be recognized for them! Keep up the good work Captains!
Fishing Highlights
- From May 2nd-3rd , the Intensity (37’ Gamefisherman) with Capt. Mike Sheeder, had 97 raises, 27 bites, and 9 sailfish releases ALL ON THE FLY in just 2 days of fishing!
- From May 2nd-4th, the Afinity (39’ Billy Knowles) with Capt. Chico Alvarenga, had 148 raises, 131 bites ,and 75 sailfish releases! They also had 3 blue marlin raises, 2 blue marlin bites and 1 released!
- From May 3rd -5th, the Pez Raton (35’ ST Contender) with Capt. Franz Hoffmann, had 59 raises, 22 bites, 9 sailfish releases, and 7 Mahi-mahi!
- From May 6-9th, the Makaira (37’ Rybovich) with Capt. Jason Brice, had 101 raises, 35 bites, and 19 sailfish releases! Plus 2 blue marlin raises, 2 blue marlin bites, and 1 blue marlin release ALL ON THE FLY!
- From May 12th-22nd, the Rum Line (40’ Gamefisherman) with Capt. Chris Sheeder, had 211 raises, 154 bites, and 120 sailfish releases. They also had 4 blue marlin raises, 1 blue marlin bites, 1 blue marlin releases, and 11 Mahi-mahi!
- Fishing May 14-21-22nd, the El Cadejo (35’ ST Contender) with Capt. Caluco Alvarenga, had 56 raises, 39 bites, and 24 sailfish releases. They also had 5 blue marlin raises, 2 blue marlin bite, 1 blue marlin release AND 4 Mahi-mahi!
