Welcome Capt. Keller Chaves
This month we welcomed Capt. Keller Chaves, from Quepos Costa Rica to the Casa Vieja Lodge Family! He is now at the helm of The Hooker and has been LOVING fishing in Guatemala. “I’m from Quepos, what I thought was a fishing paradise, until I came to Guatemala. WOW, fishing is nothing like I’ve ever seen before! It’s unreal!” Capt Keller has worked hand in hand with Capt Skip Smith aboard The Hooker for a handful of years, and now it’s his turn to take the old girl out daily to catch and release billfish. The Hooker is expected to be back in Quepos in late spring in anticipation of the Blue Marlin FAD fishing trips. If you are interested in these overnight FAD Fishing trips, you can find more info HERE, or speak with the Miami Office as we have just a few dates left.
Our anglers come in all shapes and sizes, most of them are bigger than the average Guatemalan which is why we have Mercedes Sprinter Vans, and not small sardine vans! We have welcomed a THIRD Mercedes Van to the fleet, and it’s slightly larger to now accommodate up to 15 passengers!
If you are looking to host your extended family & friends, or a corporate retreat, we can help you look like a Rockstar! Give our Miami Office a call we won’t miss a detail from fireworks to a pig roast. We have been taking reservations for groups trips for 2023 and beyond!
Summer Blues
Come and catch some summer blue marlin with us in Guatemala in addition to your sailfish, and of course with mahi-mahi and some tuna too! Summer fishing boasts calm seas and more opportunities for blue marlin. If you are ready to travel, we are ready to have you. We have limited availability during June, more options in July and August, take your pick!
Join us June 1-5, 2022 for Solo Anglers week, where you will fish with other solo anglers and split the costs. You no longer need to wait around for your friends to go fishing, instead meet new fishing buddies, reunite with previous solo anglers, catch fish, and enjoy all that Casa Vieja has to offer. The fall edition is October 26-30, simply pick what dates work best for YOU.

Fishing Report
It’s with a saddened heart to share with you all that on February 18th we lost a member of the Casa Vieja Lodge Family, Junior Cermeño, our mate on the Afinity. We ask for your prayers for his family and those that are suffering from this great loss. Fair winds and following seas Junior, until we meet again. 🤍
With so many asking, how they can help, we have created a GoFundMe to help raise money for Junior’s son, Jaden Fernando, who turned ONE, a mere two days prior to his passing, find more info HERE.
