Trophy Husbands Invitational
Over Father’s Day weekend, we casted our cares away and reeled in some unforgettable memories at the first annual Trophy Husbands Invitational! The whole weekend was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and epic catches. Along with Capt. David Salazar, we were joined by founding trophy husbands: Capt. Jimbo Thomas and Capt. Harry Vernon; plus anglers, ranging from grandfathers to moms, to their children.
There were adrenaline-pumping battles with monster-sized mahi, a first-timer sailfish release, and some hilarious tales of ones that got away. All in all, though, this weekend was mostly about celebrating the joys of fatherhood, the thrill of offshore fishing, and giving back to the Guatemalan community.
In the end, we had team Legends on the Afinity in the first place, Capt. Harry’s team on the Makaira in second, and Capt. Jimbo’s team on the Finest Kind in third place.
Winning both Sancocho King, with 7 Sancocho’s, and Largest Dorado at 52″, was angler Robert Norrell on team Legends. And our Top Lady Angler was none other than our Jefa Kristen Salazar, fishing on the Release.
By the end of the weekend we had: 270 Sailfish raised with 162 releases, 2 Marlins raised with 1 release, 49 Mahi, and 65 Sancocho’s which raised $1,650 for local charities!
The first annual Trophy Husbands Fishing Invitational was an absolute blast, full of cherished moments with family and friends—old and new. Truly an unforgettable weekend where we all agreed that being an angler is great, but being a dad is the ultimate catch of the day!

Updating The Fleet
She has arrived!
On Friday, May 26th, Capt. David Salazar and crew embarked on an unforgettable 12-day voyage from Miami, Florida to San Jose, Guatemala on the newest boat in our fleet: a 1979 48-foot Whiticar named Tabasco (soon to be renamed the Pica Más).
After departing, the vessel made a quick stop in Bimini, Bahamas to clear customs before continuing its journey. Fueling up in Nassau and Clarence Town, the 48′ Whiticar sailed along, making another fuel stop in Jamaica. Wednesday to Saturday the crew awaited an appointment to cross through the Panama Canal.
Once through, the next and last stop was in Golfito, Costa Rica, to ensure a non-stop push toward the final destination. The crew managed to catch some tunas and sailfish en route to Guatemala too!
Finally, on June 7th, around 2:00 PM, the Tabasco/Pica Más, triumphantly arrived at our marina in San Jose, Guatemala, marking the end of an exhilarating adventure for our new boat!
