All in the Family (Business)
As we near this year’s end, we take great pride in reminding you that Casa Vieja is not just a renowned fishing destination, but also a family-owned and operated resort. For the past decade, David and Kristen Salazar have nurtured this treasure along Guatemala’s shores with hard work, determination, and unwavering devotion. What began as a dream, became a present-day reality with their four little girls by their side and recently Kristen’s father, 85, moved to Antigua full time; the whole Salazar family infusing the lodge with their passion, love, and a commitment to excellence.
For 10 years, with the Salazars at the helm, they’ve raised not only countless bills, but thousands of dollars in donations to give back to their local Chapin community. With annual fishing tournaments aimed at giving back to local schools and shelters, excursions for research and conservation, and even a commitment to kicking plastic all around the lodge, David and Kristen have formed Casa Vieja into a haven that goes beyond offshore fishing, delectable food, and luxurious accommodations.
On any given evening, you can hear the echoes of laughter from their daughters reverberate across the courtyard, reminding everyone who stays there that Casa Vieja isn’t just any lodge—it’s a home away from home; a place where every guest becomes an extension of our own family. So we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for continuing to choose Casa Vieja Lodge, and for being part of the family! We can’t wait to see you in the new year!
