Trophy Husbands Round 2!
This past Father’s Day weekend, we packed the lodge full for our second annual Trophy Husbands Invitational!
It was a weekend filled with fun, friendly competition, and some great billfish numbers. Our Jefe, Capt. David Salazar was in attendance of course, along with fellow founding Trophy Husband Capt. Jimbo Thomas; as well as a lodge full of anglers, ranging from fathers to grandfathers and every family member in between.
Big congrats to the anglers aboard the Islander (Chilero) for their first-place win! In Second Place we had our Jefe and Jefa with their team on The Hooker; and last but not least, third place goes to the anglers aboard the Makaira!
Once again, our Jefa Kristen Salazar took home Top Lady Angler (aboard The Hooker) with 50pts! Largest Dorado goes to Benito Robaina with his 56″ mahi mahi, and Top Sancocho goes to Mark Bokowski with a total of NINE (9) Sanchocho’s!
With a grand total of 98 Sancocho’s for the weekend—plus a generous match from several of our amazing anglers!—we were able to raise over $11,000 in donations for our ongoing renovations towards our local primary school!!
Our second annual Trophy Husbands Fishing Invitational + Father’s Day weekend was a great time, full of unforgettable memories with family and friends—old and new. Thank you so much to every single person who helped make this Father’s Day weekend a huge success and we can’t wait to see who joins us for Round 3!

Historic Fishing
No your eyes are not deceiving you, angler.
We’re only halfway through 2024 and we’ve ALREADY exceeded our entire Billfish Numbers from last year.
Six months into this year, and so far we’re two thousand billfish ahead of all of 2023. Yes, you read that right, TWO THOUSAND billfish ahead!
There are a couple of reasons we’ve gotten this far, and a big one is You! Of course, the more boats we have going out every day, the bigger billfish numbers we’re going to yield—and we couldn’t do it without devoted fishermen (and women) like yourselves.
Another reason for such a successful year so far—and we’re not even close to done yet!—is our gorgeous Guatemalan ocean. Whereas Costa Rican and Panamanian waters will tend to slow down during this time of year, thanks to our resident sailfish and strong current eddys, we are not like them!
We understand hesitation in wanting to go fishing during the “rainy season” in the Central and South Americas, but we promise, aside from a late-day thunderstorm—perfect for sitting under our peaceful Tiki Hut and sipping your beer—rain will not affect your fishing! Trust us…
So, when we say you can be a part of history-making fishing with us this summer, you can see we’re not joking! We’ve got the perfect waters, we’ve got the smooth seas, and good weather, all we’re waiting for is YOU!
Don’t look back in regret that you didn’t get any of your billfish numbers in our historic 2024 Total! We’ve got select spots left for Summer 2024 fishing, act fast.
They’re here! The 2025 dates for our Solo Angler expeditions have arrived. If you’re looking to fish with us in Spring 2025, those dates are June 4th-8th; and our Fall 2025 dates will be November 19th-23rd.

June Fishing Report
June has been a crazy (good) month for several reasons! Not just from remaining steady with great billfish releases, this June 2024 we saw our current release numbers exceed last year’s! We know we keep calling it a historic moment, but that’s because it’s a big one!
Besides making a little bit of history, we’re starting to see our tuna numbers slowly rise as well; on June 22 the Pica Mas caught 20 tuna just in one day!
Among all that, we also held our Second Annual Trophy Husband’s Invitational, a little healthy competition, and a lot of healthy billfish releases!
Overall, on Father’s Day weekend, we saw 275 Sailfish raises, 245 bites, and 151 releases; along with 10 marlins raised, 8 marlin bites, and 5 marlins released!
We’re only getting started over here for Summer Fishing in our Guatemalan waters. From now until August is the time for some consistent sailfish releases PLUS blue marlin! We don’t have a “green season”—like our southern neighbors. With “Florida-style” type rain, we promise you won’t see any negative impact on your fishing days, just some calming thunderstorms to relax to at the end of your day and unwind!
